Dosed as
One pill, twice a day.
A different way to lower your phosphorus.
XPHOZAH is a prescription medicine used to reduce serum phosphorus in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis as add-on therapy when phosphate binders do not work well, or when phosphate binders cannot be tolerated.
High phosphorus
High phosphorus—
how it happens
Your body absorbs phosphorus from the foods you eat. This phosphorus then goes into your blood. Your kidneys remove phosphorus from your body. So when your kidneys aren’t working well, phosphorus builds up.
Everyone needs a certain amount of phosphorus, but too much can be harmful.
XPHOZAH is a prescription medicine that may help you lower your phosphorus.
HOW XPHOZAH WORKS
XPHOZAH is a blocker and works differently than phosphate binders
Binders bind phosphorus
Phosphate binders soak up phosphorus in the gut like a sponge. This keeps some of the phosphorus from getting into your bloodstream.
A sponge needs to be near a spill. If you spill a drink in the living room but your sponge is in the kitchen, it doesn’t help you clean up the spill. You need to have the sponge where and when the spill occurs.
Like a sponge, a phosphate binder needs to be in your gut when the phosphorus is in your gut, which is why phosphate binders need to be taken with every meal.
XPHOZAH
blocks phosphorus
XPHOZAH is not a binder, it’s a blocker
XPHOZAH works like a roadblock, blocking some of the phosphorus from getting into your bloodstream.
A roadblock works throughout the day to block cars from getting to the other side of the road.
Like a roadblock, XPHOZAH blocks phosphorus throughout the day when taken in the morning and at night.
